1. Can I change the policy after creating the ETL project?
No. Once a policy version is selected and the project is created, it cannot be changed. To use a new version, clone the project and select the updated policy.
2. What file format should be used for data uploads?
Only .CSV files encoded in UTF-8 are accepted. You can upload a maximum of 5 files per entity type, with each file containing up to 10,000 records.
3. What is the difference between ALTERNATEID and FENXID?
ALTERNATEID: Used for creating new entities, acts as a foreign key from the source.
FENXID: Used to update existing entities in Fen-X.
Only one of these can be used per data transfer.
4. What happens during 'Preview'?
Preview aggregates and transforms the data, returning a sample of 10 entities. This step ensures your mappings, filters, and joins are correct before validation.
5. What are Data Groups?
Data Groups are sub-entity structures (e.g., Addresses, Accounts). Each must be:
Uploaded in a separate .CSV
Mapped to system and policy fields
Linked to the parent entity using
PARENTALTERNATEIDorPARENTFENXID
6. Can I reuse existing ETL projects?
Yes. Use the Clone feature to duplicate configurations, mappings, and filters. Just ensure the same file names are used.
Note
The same filenames need to be uploaded in the cloned project for the mappings, transformations and filters to persist
7. What happens during the 'Load' step?
Entities are either created or updated based on the identifier (FENXID/ALTERNATEID). Once started, a load cannot be repeated or reverted.
Entities are processed according to:
CREATE – if ALTERNATEID is used.
UPDATE – if FENXID is used.
8. Can I export/import ETL configurations across tenants?
Yes. Use Configuration Exchange. Ensure the migration policy is imported before importing the ETL project.
