How to Target a Specific Data Group Field During Bulk Upload

Overview

The Bulk Upload functionality allows users to perform mass updates to Data Group fields within a policy. When the same Data Group is associated with multiple policy data fields, it is important to specify which field should be updated during the bulk upload process.

Scenario

Consider a policy that contains the following Data Group fields:

Ops Contact

Onboarding Contact

Both fields use the same underlying Data Group.

When generating the bulk upload template, the template displays a tab for the Data Group but does not explicitly indicate which policy field should be updated. As a result, users may be unsure how to target a specific field, such as Ops Contact, without affecting Onboarding Contact.

Solution

To identify the specific policy data field that should be updated, use the parentColumnName attribute.

The parentColumnName is used to designate the policy data field associated with the Data Group object.

Example

If the policy contains a Data Group field named opscontact, set the following value:

parentColumnName = opscontact

This instructs the bulk upload process to update the Ops Contact field specifically, even when the same Data Group is used by multiple policy fields.
