Overview
The Return Results to Provider task for the Close Screening task type may fail due to validation errors triggered during the update of Screening Category Flags.
This occurs because the system validates the entire Entity Draft when Screening Category Flags are updated, including fields that are configured as mandatory but are not currently visible or in scope within the task UI.
Symptoms
Users may encounter validation errors similar to the following when attempting to complete or return results from the screening task:
ValidationError: Calculated Next Review Date (High Risk) - USA: Field must be completed
The task may fail even though the required field is not displayed to the user in the current task.
Root Cause
When updating the Screening Category Flags, the platform performs validation against the entire Entity Draft, not only the fields displayed in the current task.
As a result:
Any field configured as mandatory in Policy Configuration will still be validated.
Validation applies even if the field:
is not visible in the task,
is not currently editable by the user,
or is outside the current task scope.
The system validates fields based on the jurisdictions in scope for the entity.
Example
A mandatory field such as:
Calculated Next Review Date (High Risk) - USA
may not appear in the task UI, but if the entity has the USA jurisdiction in scope and the field is configured as mandatory, the validation will still be enforced during Screening Category Flag updates.
Impact
Users may be unable to complete the Return Results to Provider task.
Screening workflows can be blocked due to hidden mandatory field validations.
Resolution / Workaround
Review the Policy Configuration for mandatory fields associated with the entity’s jurisdictions.
Recommended actions:
Identify mandatory fields configured for jurisdictions in scope.
Ensure those fields are populated in the Entity Draft before updating Screening Category Flags.
If the fields are not required for the workflow, consider:
removing the mandatory validation,
or updating the configuration to align with task visibility and scope.
