Webhook Batching

The “Batching” webhook type is closely tied to how webhook events are delivered. When this type is enabled, events are bundled into arrays instead of being sent individually. Each array can hold up to a configurable number of events, as defined by the BatchSize setting.

Rather than relying on a fixed batching interval, events are collected dynamically as they become available, up to the configured batch size. In practical terms, this means that as more events are generated, the batches naturally grow larger until the limit is reached.

Benefits of Webhook Batching

1. Efficiency
Batching enables multiple events to be sent in a single request, reducing the overhead associated with establishing multiple connections. This is particularly beneficial when handling high-frequency events.

2. Smoothing Peaks
Instead of overwhelming the webhook endpoint with a surge of individual requests during peak event generation, batching helps distribute the load more evenly while still processing events in near real time.

3. Network Savings
By reducing the number of HTTP requests, batching minimizes network traffic, conserves bandwidth, and lowers the load on both the sender and receiver systems.

Important Note

If webhook batching is not enabled on the event notifications, it may lead to significant delays in event delivery, particularly in high-volume scenarios.
